Individual differences in media multitasking ability: The importance of cognitive flexibility

Previous research on media multitasking has often focussed the frequency with which people perform this type of behaviour. Heavy multitaskers have been found to differ from light in their performance tasks involving executive functioning (although these differences not always consistently). The aim present study was explore individuals’ relation ability multitask (i.e., retain information presented during session), rather than propensity multitask. Participants (N ?= ?116, aged 18–25, male N ?32) completed an function task battery, inclusive working memory, inhibition and cognitive flexibility tasks, followed by a studious situation. Individual scores were correlated scores. Greater significantly associated greater multitask, terms retention Furthermore, influenced mood, reducing levels self-reported arousal. Thus, provides some elucidation as what characteristics are involved being able whilst also indicating possible mechanism for negative associations between academic performance.
